It didn’t mean all too much but an experimental England side managed to see off Lithuania 1-0 in their final World Cup qualifier.

Yes, it was a dead rubber – and Gareth Southgate’s selection proved as much – but it gave onlookers the opportunity to observe some of the players that don’t normally start for the Three Lions as well as a 3-4-3 formation.

MATCH REPORT: Lithuania 0-1 England: Three Lions end World Cup qualifying campaign with a win

If we are looking for positives it was far more entertaining than Thursday night’s match over Slovenia, but that’s not saying all too much.

So, with that in mind, scroll through the gallery above to check out talkSPORT’s player ratings.

Jack Butland – 8
Jack Butland – 8 – Given his opportunity in place of Joe Hart for the final qualifier and the Stoke goalkeeper proved his worth. Made an absolutely blinding stop to prevent Michael Keane scoring an own goal and looked assured in net.
Michael Keane – 6
Michael Keane – 6 – A decent outing in defence but was lucky not to score a spectacular own goal. A solid performance on the ball but nothing spectacular.
John Stones – 7
John Stones – 7 – The Manchester City centre-back suits being the middle man in a three-man defence as it affords him the chance to step out and play the ball – his main attribute. Looks settled with the extra insurance.
Harry Maguire – 6
Harry Maguire – 6 – Handed his England debut from the start and the Leicester man didn't look out of place. Unlikely to push for a starting berth on the back of his performance though.
Kieran Trippier – 6
Kieran Trippier – 6 – In a 3-4-3 the full-backs are key and you would have liked to see more from Trippier in terms of crossing and wide play. Still a decent performance though.
Harry Winks – 7
Harry Winks – 7 – Handed his England debut by Southgate and the Tottenham man – despite his inexperience – offers a refreshing sense of creativity in the England midfield. An impressive first appearance for the senior team.
Jordan Henderson – 7
Jordan Henderson – 7 – With Winks alongside there's not as much pressure on Henderson to be the creator, which is not his forte. Far more comfortable in a break-up role.
Aaron Cresswell – 6
Aaron Cresswell – 6 – In a similar vein to Trippier you would have expected more end-product from Cresswell in the left wing-back role. Very nearly scored from a header mind.
Dele Alli – 5
Dele Alli – 5 – It's been a tough run of form for the Tottenham star lately as he looks to be forcing moves that, previously, came naturally. However, you sense it's only a matter of time until the Alli of old returns.
Marcus Rashford – 7
Marcus Rashford – 7 – A solid contribution from the Manchester United forward who linked up well with the likes of Kane and Alli. This front three combination could be the way forward.
Harry Kane – 7
Harry Kane – 7 – Scored his customary goal from the penalty spot (a delightful finish off the post by the way). Captain Kane remains the go-to man for the Three Lions and he never dips into average territory.
Substitute: Daniel Sturridge – 6
Substitute: Daniel Sturridge – 6 – The Liverpool man was handed some time off the bench but didn't offer too much. One fierce shot ricocheted off a defender but not too much else to comment on.
Substitute: Jesse Lingard – N/A
Substitute: Jesse Lingard – N/A – Forever becoming Mr Substitute for club and country. Not enough time to warrant a rating.
